Un affiatato gruppo di giovani pugili si allena ogni giorno in una palestra di box nel cuore di Amsterdam ovest. Qui i ragazzi si confrontano con il rigido approccio dell’allenatore. Questo luogo diventa per loro un rifugio e un centro d’ispirazione per le scelte che devono intraprendere nella vita.

Ora un invito scuote la routine cui si è condannata: sarà una coetanea - Tilde - a traghettarla fino al porto successivo della vita, dove i vecchi affrontano il bivio più oscuro: vivere o sopravvivere?

A short film built on two metaphors: feelings are items, assembly line and handicraft are tools to create items-feeling.

Feeling Factory : Feeling Factory è una storia che parla di sentimenti, di libero arbitrio e di relazioni umane. In una terra senza tempo e in un luogo sconosciuto un giorno successe qualcosa di nuovo e inaspettato, le persone scoprirono una nuova abilità. Un breve racconto basato su una doppia metafora, il sentimento come oggetto e la catena di montaggio, a cui si contrappongono manualità e lavoro artigianale, come strumenti per realizzare gli oggetti sentimento.

Having discovered my family archives, I try to understand the stories behind them: stories of war, fear and hiding unfolds, but also stories of family, gatherings and rare occasion of happiness arises. My mother tells the story, answering my questions, yet something seems to linger behind. Untold memories and unrevealed truth hides behind her testimony.

Avendo scoperto gli archivi di famiglia, provo a capire le storie che si celano dietro di questi: Storie di Guerra, paura e nascondigli, ma anche storie di famiglia, di unione e di rare occasioni felici. Mia madre racconta, rispondendo alle mie domande, e sembra che qualcosa in lei si soffermi sul passato. Racconti taciuti si nascondono dietro alla sua testimonianza.

SFIORANDO L'ALBA

A reflection on the dream of redemption and hope of thousands of immigrants who embark from Africa to Europe. The narrative voice of a young immigrant , drowned in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, reminds her sister, who was able to land on the coast of Italy , the fatigue of their trip, the cruelty of smugglers , the cruel destiny of men, women, and children abandoned and dead in the water, in the desolate shores of the sea that closed over their heads. And for a moment the body and the voice of the young immigrant seems to come from the depths of the sea and to touch half of the sky , linking past and future , dreams and despair , in a cry that tries to sing Life and Hope over every shipwreck and defeat.

Una riflessione sul sogno di riscatto e di speranza delle migliaia di migranti che s’imbarcano dall’Africa alla volta dell’Europa. La voce di una giovane migrante, annegata nelle acque del Mediterraneo, ricorda alla sorella approdata sulle coste italiane, e finita in mano alla criminalità che la sfrutta nei campi di raccolta, la fatica del viaggio, la crudeltà degli scafisti, gli uomini le donne ei bambini abbandonati e morti nelle acque, le rive desolate del mare che si è richiuso sulle loro teste. E per un attimo il corpo e la voce della giovane migrante escono dagli abissi del mare e toccano metà del cielo, sfiorando l’Alba, unendo passato e futuro, sogno e disperazione, in una vertiginosa eco che cerca la Vita oltre ogni sconfitta e ogni naufragio e arde di speranza.

Joseph è un individuo mentalmente instabile. Prigioniero nella propria casa, e vive in perenne conflitto con la propria mente. Desiderio, memorie e incubi sono sempre mescolati, non ci sono vie di fuga per la sua anima torturata. Se non vincerà la guerra con la sua mente resterà condannato per sempre.

Un giovane si risveglia nella cucina buia di un ristorante. È ferito, è stato picchiato e legato ad una sedia. Ha le braccia immerse in un secchio pieno di ghiacci e sangue. Non si ricorda cosa gli è successo quindi i suoi torturatori lo aiutano a ricostruire il corso degli eventi.

The film is a personal statement of the director and his wife, who have to deal with a very rare and incurable disease of their newborn child – the Ondine’s Curse (also known as CCHS, congenital central hypoventilation syndrome). People affected with this disease stop breathing during sleep and require a lifetime mechanical ventilation on a ventilator. The film shows the process of taming fear associated with the disease.

Il film è una presa di posizione personale del regista e sua moglie, che deve convivere con la malattia rarissima e incurabile del loro neonato, la maledizione di Ondine (anche conosciuta come CCHS, sindrome congenita dell’iperventilazione centrale). Le persone affette da questa sindrome smettono di respirare durante il sonno e hanno bisogno di un respiratore meccanico per tutto il corso della loro vita. Il film mostra il processo che li ha portati a superare la paura di questo male.

Quando è stata l’ultima volta che hai parlato con tuo padre? Gli chiederai mai di spiegarti tutte quelle piccolo cose che ti hanno fatto soffrire? In “Father”, la realtà della vita è capovolta per creare quel dialogo che non avviene mai tra padre e figlio.
